This enormous active community requires an entire Recreation Division to manage the lifestyle offerings. With more than 1,000 organized clubs, leagues, meet-ups, and activities, there’s no shortage of ways to pack every day as fully as desired and to meet neighbors with shared interests. In addition, the Lifelong Learning College provides an extensive roster of classes year round for continuing education and personal development.
This community is a golfer’s paradise. As of this writing, its Executive Golf Trail has a whopping 32 courses at 9 holes each, and more are added every year. Then there are another dozen challenging championship courses, plus The Villages Golf Academy, which offers group and private lessons for players of all skill levels.
While most 55+ communities have a clubhouse or two, The Villages has numerous neighborhood centers, village centers, and regional centers. Neighborhood centers offer adults-only pools, sports courts, and more. In the village centers, residents have access to billiards rooms, meeting and club rooms, kitchens, family pools, and a variety of sports courts. Regional complexes house fitness centers, arts and crafts facilities, theaters, sports pools, and lots of sports facilities.

There isn’t much residents can’t play in The Villages. Golf, tennis, bocce ball, volleyball, basketball, softball, pickle ball, shuffleboard, bingo, billiards, cards, and even polo are just the start. There are over 200 registered softball teams in the community. Numerous swimming pools and well-equipped fitness centers are conveniently located all around.
Arts & Entertainment
The Villages supports three town squares functioning as quaint downtown areas; Brownwood Paddock Square is reminiscent of an old Florida cattle town, Spanish Springs Town Square has a distinctly southwestern flavor, and Lake Sumter Landing offers a small seaside town feel. The shopping, dining, movie theaters, concerts, festivals, and other special events and cultural offerings are practically endless. There’s even an 8,000 square-foot woodworking shop.
The Villages offers proximity to all the outdoors adventures found in and around Central Florida, including camping, hiking, birdwatching, fishing, boating, sunning on the beach, and so much more.
